In -Style

"Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.”- Oscar De La Renta. Growing up was pretty interesting because of the evolution of trends, i have seen some particular themes go out of vogue and make a grand come back. Its pretty inspiring that a fashion goon would refer you back to yourself when it comes to style because at the end of the day its not about the flashy lights or loud music, its about you. Transitioning into early teens, there is the need to receive the right kind of values and this sometimes translated into the community making sure that in your parent's bid to make a living, they did not allow you fall off the bus. One of the things that i distinctly remember is the issue of boxers or no boxers for girls, then the hazy line between where to and where not to wear shorts and trousers to. On one of such days, when i knew the "concerned public" would be in attendance; I just did the needful, wore an...

Lighting another candle

There is a tendency for everybody to feel that they know you. Many times everybody, yes everybody falls into that deception that they can figure another human out. But at the end of the day, nobody can ever be explained away. If not there wouldn't be any element of surprise, no magic, no miracle and no life. The earth would have been full of zombies graded by a particular system. Evolution, seasons and times would not exist. But as long as they are fashion trends, cultural changes and evolutions, life as we know it would continually be one evolving beauty, constantly changing and moving. As you meet people try to listen to them you will discover that they are not as bad as they seem. Quite a number of times you will have run ins with scum bags and schmucks but at the end of the day you will miss very important experiences, people and friends because you didn't listen. Sadly enough they will never be great not because dont have it in them to be great but because it was only yo...

Lucy

I was a bit jealous when my neighbour and some friends (actually her friends i was meant to attach myself ) went for a girly date and i couldn't go.  The plan was to roam round the mall, watch a movie and head home. But being local girls like myself (No offence ladies) a particular somebody was almost passing out in her heels so they bought dunlop (actually flats), then watched Lucy because her name is Lucy (don't worry, they don't know your surname) and came home. When I asked about the movie, they didn't sound too pleased (No thanks to iroko and the likes).  Fast forward a month later and i see free wireless,  and lucy (don't do illegal ish). I downloaded it with mixed feelings Suddenly the movie started (popcorn less, movie dateless and sodaless), but i was grateful that i wasn't in the cinema. I have not yet recovered  (literally). It brought home a Sunday School lesson (or at least what they had been trying to teach us anyways). A girl going on her d...

Beauty of the eye

So i love looking at wedding pictures. For me its a beautiful thing to see all the effort put into creating new beginnings.  Particularly love wedding photographers because you must be a beautiful person to be able to capture most of the emotions that go into the whole event.  The way it is solemn and beautiful at the same time, the exchange of vows, the preparation to lose yourself and identity to someone else.  The selflessness of being willing to share your life with someone that you have no guarantee will turn out alright but you just believe that as long as there's you it is fine.  The loss of a parent that gives away a child, you can never tell if your child just brought home a paedophile or an insane person and is passing some weird heritage into your lineage, i mean their children will be your grandchildren. But you have to trust that on the dark and gloomy days they will have each other and they will be enough. The couple that says the vo...
